R Mark Laursen MS, ATC

BS, Appalachian State University; MS, Canisius College. Mark Laursen serves as Boston University’s Director of the Athletic Training Services and as a Clinical Associate Professor of Athletic Training in BU's College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College.

Mr. Laursen has received numerous awards notably in 2017 the NATA’s Tim Kerin Award for Excellence and the CAATE’s Pete Keohneke Award for Leadership, the Quality of Life by the College Athletic Trainers Society in 2016, and the NATA’s Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer, Service Award and I-AA Head Athletic Trainer of the year. He is a Founder of the Association for Athletic Training Education and a Founding Board member of the Athletic Trainers in the Physician Practice Society.  He has contributed to many publications, is a sought-out speaker. Laursen’s service includes acting as the NATA’s representative on the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), where he served as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President, President, and Past-President and as an Athletic Trainer at numerous sporting events including the Boston Marathon. A BU Faculty-in-Residence, his primary teaching responsibilities are in clinical application, administration and policy areas of athletic training.
